About the Development House

An information- and activity center for youth and students on development issues and development cooperation.

The Development House has a permanent exhibition which is also the starting point for engaging experiences and learning (Development Trail), an interactive role-playing game (Development Lab), the exhibition "Witnesses" and a meeting room that can be used for temporary exhibitions, debates, seminars, etc.

Here you can learn more about development cooperation and the possibilities, dilemmas and challenges that are part of this field. For school classes and students, we have two specially-designed educational programs related to poverty alleviation and community development in “Development Lab” (only in Norwegian) and “Development Trail" (also available in English).

The Development House is aimed at school classes and students in the age of 15 to 25, participants working with development and aid and people in general that take an interest in development issues and challenges.

We wish to be an arena where young people can learn about the challenges and dilemmas of international issues. The Development House intends to engage and contribute to greater reflection and debate on development issues and development cooperation.

The Development House is located between the City Hall and the harbour in Oslo.

Entry is free for all visitors.

Norad and the Nobel Peace Center

Norad has established the Development House and has professional responsibility, while the Nobel Peace Center is engaged by Norad for daily operations.
